Engen Audi Xtreme team ready themselves for Kyalami
Tuesday, 24 March 2009
After the event filled first race day in the WesBank Super Series in Port
Elizabeth earlier this month, the Engen Xtreme team outfit based in PE is
feverishly preparing for the trek north to the hallowed Kyalami track for
the next instalment in the series on 28 March 2009.
Kyalami has always been a successful track for the Xtreme team, having
proved happy hunting grounds for all drivers, but most favourably for Engen
Polo Cup driver Miguel Pasqualli. Miguel in his last outing at Kyalami
qualified first on pole for both his heats, and then went on to win both
races in fine style. It also proved to be successful for Shaun and Michael
both winning their respective heats.
The team is hoping to recreate some of that magic at the weekend. Also after
the damage caused to the Audi's, team principal, Terry Moss and his
technical team have had to do extensive panel beating to both vehicles at a
cost of approximately R50 000. Fortunately the drive trains of the cars were
not damaged in any way, which is more than can be said for Richard Wolk in
his BMW, who has been banned for three races as a result of his 'reckless'
driving in Heat 1.
This weekend the team will however be squarely focussed on winning all
heats, so as to capitalise on their good start and attempt to score maximum
points to further the gap on their nearest rivals.
