Engen Xtreme Team prepares for Engen National Race Day
Thursday, 15 April 2010
After a month since the
last race weekend at Killarney, the Engen Xtreme Team shifts their focus to
the third instalment of the season, with the upcoming Engen National Race
Day taking place at Aldo Scribante circuit in Port Elizabeth on Saturday 01
May 2010.
The Engen Xtreme team has been performing extremely well in the Bridgestone
Production Category and Engen Volkswagen Cup with Audi driver, Michael
Stephen setting the pace at Killarney, achieving one podium finish and
setting the fastest lap record for both of the races. His team mate, Tschops
Sipuka, also held his ground keeping two of his opponents at bay, while
using the opportunity to further adjust his driving style to the Audi. The
team plans to produce excellent results at the upcoming race in Port
Elizabeth. Engen Xtreme Team Manager, Michael Stephen feels very confident
about the team, various improvements and developments that have taken place
over the past month. A positive Stephen's commented: "Continuous development
is key to staying in the winning position."
In the Volkswagen Cup, Engen Xtreme driver Miguel Pasqualli experienced a
disappointing weekend at Killarney with his car giving him mechanical
problems. Pasqualli will be able to race more boldly when he takes on Aldo
Scribante, having been assured by the mechanics that the problem has been
rectified. He commented: "We have built up four new engines and we are
extremely excited to put them to the test at the Engen National Race Day."
Kosie Weyers, 2009 Rookie of the Year, is proving himself more with each
race. He dominated in his first race at Killarney and walked away with an
overall second place. Both drivers are feeling confident about the next race
and expect brilliant results. With Aldo Scribante being the home circuit to
the Engen Xtreme Team, loads of preparation has gone into the National Race
Day, having installed new exhaust systems and air induction systems.
Engen continues to contribute towards the Red Cross War Memorial Children's
Hospital through its 'Racing for Red' campaign. A generous amount of R130 is
donated for every point the drivers score during the race. After the event
at Killarney, the team scored 141 points increasing this season's 'Racing
for Red' fundraising campaign to R18 330. This worthy cause forms part of
the overarching Engen Red Cross Children's Hospital campaign which aims to
raise 'R1 million by 2010' and is supported by all of Engen's sport
sponsorship portfolios. More than seven hundred thousand rand has already
been raised with the fundraising campaign aiming to raise R1 million by 31
December 2010, through the activations across all of Engen's sport
sponsorships.
