Thursday, 02 December 2010
A top class weekend of Motorsport saw great victories for the Engen
Xtreme Team at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on 27 and 28 November
2010. After a nail biting 2010 season and the final round, Engen VW Polo
driver, Miguel Pasqualli took home the championship title in the Masters
category of the Engen VW Polo Cup, with team mate and only in his second
season, Kosie Weyers finishing the season third in the championship.
Despite having underpowered engineering against the turbo powered opposition
for most of the season, Engen Xtreme Audi driver, Michael Stephen showed his
hard earned pedigree by finishing the Bridgestone Production Car
Championship in third place.

The fight for the championships kicked off on Saturday 27 November, with the
VW Polo Cup drivers racing it out for the final race of the season. Engen
Xtreme driver, Kosie Weyers had a great showing claiming second and sixth
position in race one and two respectively. Right by his side was veteran

The Bridgestone Production cars rolled out on Sunday 28 November, with Engen
Audi driver Michael Stephen moving up through the field yet again proving
his talent and dogged determination for the checkered flag. Stephen
completed the day with two third and one fourth place finish which, as a
result, earned him a second overall for the day. Teammate, Tschops Sipuka
despite having a challenging season to this point showed his mettle by

fourth and second place finish in races two and three respectively.
Overall
True to historical form the final weekend of the 2010 season saw all
competitors come out with heightened passion and commitment to perform for
the last time. Leading the way was the Engen Xtreme Team who again proved
that with three championship podium finishes, they are still the most
successful Motorsport outfit in the country. Veteran champion, Miguel
Pasqualli proudly commented: 'After a long and competitive season, all the
hard work paid off and the competition was really tight out there. I feel
great in achieving my first championship for polo cup series and will
definitely be up to the challenge of defending the title next year.'
The Engen Xtreme Team has shown continuous support for the Red Cross War
Memorial Children's Hospital throughout the racing season by pursuing
valuable points for the initiative where funds are donated for every point
the drivers score during a race meeting. To date, the team scored 488 points
moving this season's 'Racing for Red' campaign up to R 63 440. So far,
the overall fundraising campaign has donated more than R800 000 with an aim
to raise 'R1 million by 2010' across all of Engen's sport sponsorship
portfolios.
