The Engen Xtreme Team dominates Class A at East London Grand Prix Circuit

After an exciting and action packed day of racing in the eighth round of the
WesBank Super Series, the Engen Xtreme Team Audi's took home first and
second podium finishes in the Bridgestone Production Category on Saturday,
30 October at East London Grand Prix Circuit.
Bridgestone Production CarsIn race one, Engen Audi drivers Michael Stephen and Tschops Sipuka started
in third and sixth place on grid respectively. With a tight start to the
race, Stephen managed to slip pass a few of the competitors and took a third
place with Sipuka coming in right behind him in fourth position.
The highlight of the day for the Engen Xtreme Team in race two was when
Stephen overtook one of his competitors on the last lap, claiming first
position and now creates an even bigger chance for him to claim championship
title. Sipuka pushed hard through the fields and confidently completed the
race in third place.
VW Polo Cup
Race one started with Engen Polo driver, Miguel Pasqualli qualifying fourth
on the grid, and after a few mechanical difficulties, Pasqualli finished in
fourth place. Teammate Kosie Weyers qualified sixth on the grid and
experienced some unfortunate luck and a broken gearbox resulted in tenth
place finish in his class and 13th place overall finish.
All warmed up after the first race, Pasqualli and Weyers came back for
victory in race two and worked their way through the fields by claiming a
few places on their rivals by completing the race in second and fourth place
respectively.
'After working around the clock on the cars, we experienced some unfortunate
luck with mechanical difficulties. We achieved good points and hope to
maintain third place in the championship', said Weyers.
A successful day for the Xtreme Audi's saw Stephen claiming first place in
Class A and overall, which now throws a spanner in the works for battle of
the championship, with Sipuka coming in right behind him, placing his Audi
on the second place podium for the day.
The team looks in top shape for the final round of series and plans to take
home championship title at Kyalami Circuit on 27 November 2010.
Meanwhile, the Engen Xtreme Team continue to show their support for the Red
Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital as they pursue valuable points for
the initiative where funds are donated for every point the drivers score
during a race meeting. To date, the team scored 488 points moving this
season's 'Racing for Red' campaign up to R 63 440,00. So far, the overall
fundraising campaign has donated more than R 800 000 with an aim to raise
'R1 million by 2010' across all of Engen's sport sponsorship portfolios.
