Supply Trading and Optimisation
Engen operates storage, transport and logistics infrastructure and activities across
the African continent, under our own banner and in partnership with other providers,
to ensure steady supply to all our markets. Our STO function performs several roles
to ensure we meet market demand in a professional and timely manner.
- STO liaises with our parent company PETRONAS, about the importation of crude oil
to 'feed' our refinery, and arranges shipping into SA
- It coordinates the distribution of refined and procured product to our depots, and
from depots to customers; It manages product imports to cover any market shortfall
resulting from our refinery output, and
- It exports surplus product
To ensure that we meet our commitments to clients and are able to control and mitigate
any environmental, health and safety risks during the storage and transportation
of hazardous
materials, Engen runs its own extensive transport fleet. We invest heavily in driver
training and lifestyle education, as well as skills development. We also run and
co-run a wide array of depots and aviation facilities. All of this enables Engen
to deliver fuel volumes running into tens of millions of litres daily.
