Absa Premiership
Preview: Engen Santos vs. Bloemfontein Celtic
Friday, 17 April 2009
Friday night's Absa Premiership action sees a change of venue for Engen Santos
when they host Bloemfontein Celtic at Coetzenburg Stadium in Stellenbosch.
"The People's Team" will be keen to return to winning ways against the visitors,
hoping to improve on their recent form that has seen them suffer an unfortunate
series of defeats at the hand of Maritzburg United, Amazulu, and most recently,
Ajax Cape Town.
It is therefore understandable that Engen Santos will be going all out on Friday
and will not settle for anything less than maximum points to strengthen their
log position, while also giving the ongoing "Goals for Charity" campaign* a
much-needed boost, that will move the campaign barometer even closer to its
target of R1 million by next year.
Thus far, this fundraising campaign has donated more than R 400,000 in aid of
Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital in the past five years, with this
season's campaign raising R 28,000.
However, a win for "The People's Team" could prove to be quite challenging as
there are only four games remaining to collect invaluable points. "Phunye Sele
Sele" who is in the midst of a hotly contested relegation battle with Thanda
Royal Zulu and Bay United at the bottom of the Premiership table will also run
out onto the pitch all guns blazing with everything to play for. Fans of both
teams can therefore anticipate a tough on field battle at the Coetzenburg
stadium on Friday.
Kick off is at 20:00
