Nedbank Cup Preview: Engen Santos vs. Milano United
Wednesday, 11 March 2009
Engen Santos starts their 2009 Nedbank Cup campaign by hosting second
division side Milano United at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday (kick off
07:30).
Last year, Engen Santos reached the quarter final stage however they crashed
out after a narrow 1 0 defeat at the hands of Free State Stars in
Bethlehem. Wary of this, Engen Santos Head Coach David Bright commented, It
is a cup fixture and if you make one mistake, you may be eliminated from the
competition. Therefore, we will definitely field a very strong team to
ensure that we proceed to the next round of the Nedbank Cup.
We are going to play against Milano United who is a Vodacom league team.
Having qualified through the preliminary rounds and reached the Last 32, we
cannot take them lightly, adds Bright. If we do underestimate Milano
United and not prepare appropriately, they can upset the form book and cause
real damage.
The Peoples Team will be without the services of star players Jerome
Ramathlakwana, who is nursing a knee injury, and Wayne Arendse, who is still
suspended for one more game. However, if one thing is certain, Engen Santos
is a spirited side and has already shown their resilience. Therefore,
football fans can expect a passionate meeting on Wednesday night as The
Peoples Team aims to upset their Cape Town neighbours.
