Engen moves to avert disruptions during transport strike
Wednesday,
01 April 2009
Engen hereby announces that fuel deliveries will continue with minimal
disruption during SATAWUs* strike, which is expected to go ahead on 07
April if a dispute with employers is not resolved.
Customer deliveries
Engens customer deliveries will not be affected by the labour issues
currently confronting other companies. Except at two depots where we do have
contingency plans, we maintain our own bulk fuel transport fleet for
purposes of assuring customer satisfaction, and our drivers are not members
of the unions that have declared a wage dispute with the Road Freight
Employers Association.
Depot to depot road transport
Engen does however use third-party vehicles for trans-shipping of our
product from depot to depot in some areas. Should our deliveries in this
segment of the logistics chain will be affected, we will use our own
vehicles and those of non-striking members of the road freight industry as
part of our contingency measures.
We assure our dealers and customers that we have done everything possible to
minimise the impact of the pending industrial action on our business.
However, should you have a query please call 0800 364 36.
