What is it?
Engen Xtreme 5W-40 is a unique high performance SAE 5W-40, synthetic
base engine oil especially developed for use in the latest generation of
high performance/fuel efficient engines fitted with emission reduction
devises.
Why was it developed?
Engen Xtreme 5W-40 was developed primarily to meet the requirements of
the new high performance cars that are being imported into South Africa.
The high power density, extreme performance engines fitted to these cars
require specialized lubricants as defined by new API, ACEA and OEM
specifications.
What makes it so good?
By virtue of being synthetically based, Engen Xtreme 5W-40 is inherently
very stable and durable. It provides excellent protection on cold start
up due to its low temperature pumping characteristics (quick
circulation) as well as excellent high temperature protection due to its
viscosity retention.
Can it be used in all makes of cars?
Most. It exceeds current passenger car engine oil requirements such as
API SM/CF, ACEA A3/B3/B4, VW 502.00/505.00 and SABS 1516. Meets MB
229.3, BMW LL-01 and Porsche standards and can be used in all cars
requiring oils of this performance level.
Can it be used where a SAE 15W-40 oil is recommended?
Yes. Engen Xtreme 5W-40 covers a wider operating temperature range than
a SAE 15W-40.
Can it be mixed with other oils?
Yes. Engen Xtreme 5W-40 is fully compatible with all conventional oils.
However mixing it with other oils will detract from its superior
performance.
Can it be used in older cars?
Yes. If the engine is in good condition and not using oil. If the engine
is using a little bit of oil between services, then it is more cost
effective to use Engen Protecta Hi-Milage
Will my warranty be valid?
Yes. Engen Xtreme 5W-40 has been extensively tested according to
international standards and is fully approved for use in most cars
marketed in South Africa.
Is it suitable for South African conditions?
