We test and apply stringent quality controls throughout the manufacturing process to ensure that our products meet the harsh operating conditions in Africa. To meet customer needs, Engen conducts stringent and exhaustive testing on all incoming base oils and additives, carries out random testing of packaged products, and does field tests on imported and local products.

Distribution throughout Africa
Engen promotes economy and security of supply across our vast international network and supply chain. In South Africa, primary distribution centres are present in all major cities, and a number of secondary depots are situated in outlying areas.
Depots and storage facilities can also be found throughout our network in Sub Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands. Products are dispensed to both the countries where Engen has assets and operations on the ground, as well as through distributors in other countries where we have no physical presence. PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PETRONAS. As an innovative organisation dealing with the complex engineering of fluids, PLI is backed up by two world-class R&D Centres covering the West and the East; Turin, Italy and Bangi, Malaysia. Whilst all design and refinement work begins in the chemical development lab, PLI's fluid development process passes through a real-world simulation lab prior to actual usage. Then what is termed the progressive lab, where the used fluid is periodically tested and modified accordingly to match the changing conditions of the mechanical parts, comes into the picture.
